Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Silky Product Review

This is a backdated post as I was supposed to update on my hair's progress on Day 7 and Day 14.  I had LASIK surgery on the first week on January so I try as much as possible not to use the computer.

It's almost 21 days of using Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Silky series now and here are some of my thoughts about the products:

Shampoo: I've mentioned before it smells very sweet, similar to a honeydew scent.

Conditioner: Still NOT liking it.  The unpleasant pungent smells kinda stays... ack!

Rinse-off treatment: My favourite product!  Smells good and hair turns super smooth immediately after usage!  The nozzle is in the shape of a starburst. Heh.

And so when you squeeze the cream out, it looks like cupcake frosting! Hahaha

Intensive treatment: I don't really have the patience to stand in the shower for 5 mins with this on, so I think I didn't really enjoy the full benefits for this product. :X

On Day 7, my hair was noticeably smoother and shinier.  My hair became more manageable, especially during combing.

I would recommend friends to use this series if their hair is naturally healthy to begin with, and had undergone very minimal hair treatment processes (such that if you seldom dye or perm your hair).  If all you lack is that shine and softness, then this series of products is what you need. :)

Perhaps after this I should go for its Total Damage Care series to fix my split ends problem.  The lower part of my hair still seems rather dry and brittle, so I think I need something with more mosturizing properties. :)

On top of a regular haircare regime, I believe it's also important to go for occasional salon treatments and eat the right foods!  Our scalp needs rest too but I style/tie my hair almost daily, so I guess it's my fault that my hair is not in tiptop condition.

A tip I've learnt on the way is using cold water or at most lukewarm water when you wash your hair. This will help to retain the effect after your hair dries out.  I feel cold most of the time so I always use hot water to shower.  Maybe that explains the dry hair. =,=

The price probably ranges from SGD$6.90 to 12.90 (I'm not too sure about this!) but is definitely affordable and can be purchased at major supermarkets, Watsons, Guardian and even mamashops/mini-marts.

You can also try Pantene's Total Damage Care & Hair Fall Control and see how it works out for you! Thank you Pantene for the hair products!

Pantene 14-Day Flag Off Challenge // Day 1

Today marks the first day of my Pantene’s 14-day Flag Off Challenge!  For the next two weeks, I will be using four haircare products from Pantene Pro-V.

For this challenge, there are  three unique hair care product ranges that will cater to different hair groups.  Upon evaluation, the team decided that I am suitable for the Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Silky.

Pantene’s Smooth & Silky regimen is powered by a unique formula that binds evenly along the length of the hair shaft, resulting in better alignment of hair fibers and improved shine.

The result from this challenge should be Improved shine and enhanced smoothness, and I'm here to try it out myself. *cues Barney Stinson's 'CHALLENGE ACCEPTED'*

The other two ranges that are designed to target our hair’s deepest needs are Pantene Total Damage Care and Hair Fall Control.

And because I'm at BF's house now, I have to use my laptop camera for this entry instead.  Heh.

This is how my hair looks like before I started using Pantene:

I'm usually not one who takes care of my hair.  Other than the usual shampoo and conditioner routine, I don't use any other hair care products such as mask or treatment cream etc.  This would be my first time using the rinse-off treatment (top left) and intensive treatment cream (bottom left).

So if my hair (above) looks okay, that's probably because I just went for a treatment session and a hair cut. Hehe.  Anyway, I'll check back on my hair's progress in a week's time. :)

Because this year (2011) I've been dyeing my hair more frequently, my hair is rather damaged and is often tangled up.  :(  I had to get myself a wide-toothed comb to comb through my hair.

Here's a brief summary of what I think of each product after using them just now:

1) Shampoo
- Cleans my hair
- Kinda smells like honeydew

2) Conditioner
- Light
- Dislike the smell

3) Rinse-off Treatment
- Smells heavenly
- Upon rinsing it off, hair feels super smooth

4) Intensive Treatment
- Floral scent
- Thicker texture than all of the above products

I like number 4 the best so far, based on this video clip I just recorded:
(WARNING: This video clip contains nothing but 40 seconds of me combing my hair in silence.)

Did you see what I did there from 0:29 to 0:31? HAHAHAHA

Came out of the shower, combed my damp hair, and it does seem to be less tangled.  Also because BF says my hair smells nice. Muahaha.

So yeah, will see how it goes next Friday. ^^

Hoyu Hair Fashion Show

I figure I'll never be labeled as an party animal and I'm glad with the way it is. However, I'm afraid I'll become an "alcoholic" if my drinking habit persists on.

Back to the title topic, Tuesday night RHW attended the Hoyu Hair Fashion Show at:

This time round, we are invited to Hoyu's launch held over at The Arena! It was the launch of two of their hair product series, mainly the Glamage - Hair Manicure, as well as Mallia Hair Care Products.

Yes, the bus journey was so long that we almost didn't make it in time for dinner. On the bus we were watching how this young Eurasian couple smooching and caressing and Kym and I threw each other "the look". Right, I'm such a voyeur.

Coincidentally, the place where the rest want to have dinner, was right next to The Arena, which made things much easier for us. We settled for a quick meal at The Satay Club, where I had 9 sticks of Satay for dinner, while Kym paid $6 for a small bowl of diluted, no-chicken curry with one Prata. Seriously.

At the entrance, we were greeted with enthusiasm and given a media pass each to wear on so have have the permission to enter the backstage.

As the very nice lady ushered us to our couch, we were also handed a couple of goodie bags, which contained the media kit and complimentary Mallia shampoo and conditioner.

We arrived there early so we managed to catch the second half of the rehearsal. While waiting for the fashion show to commence, and guess what makes Darrick and Kym very happy? They had to blame me for ordering my second complimentary drink a fruit punch (maybe with alcohol?)!

We started people-watch and commenting on the models as if we were professionals. Magdalene got flushed faster than I am! :D Needless to say, there were many, many metrosexuals and homosexuals as well.

Before the cameras roll, the models prepped themselves with thick make-up, fantastic bods, while keeping their hair (real & fake) in check. Of each theme, I have a favourite model, some of them are really pretty!

Slowly, the guests filled in and it was so crowded! And see who we've bumped into - our fellow coursemate Nadia Shah, who is interning at SPH and attending 2-3 events every week! That night was the first time I see her don in a revealing dress with her tattoo inked beautifully across her right shoulder blade.

We each ordered housepours and sinked into the happy music and atmosphere.

The lights dimmed as the dancer emerged from the darkness, a Geisha dancing gracefully to the Japanese-influenced music. For this fashion show, there was multiple themes.

Glamage:

  • Bold, outrageous hairstyles in black colour presented by a group of hyperactive dancers in black, sexy leather costumes {wild}
  • Models with their hair in brown/blond shades, wearing all-white to highlight the purity {plain}

  • Models in similar gilttery short dresses sashaying down the runway in their glamourous hairstyles, each very unique {mysterious}

  • My favourite goes to the models who wore long, loose-fitting dresses in their outrageous square-cut hair. {maternity wear - or so Kym call it. But so 80's I love it!}

  • Last but not least we have the extremely beautiful Geishas in their intricate costume and thick make-up, along with their exquisite hairdo. {A bit freaky but extremely bewitching}

The guy models came out strutting down the runway coolly, showcasing the vibrant and vivid hair colours. I swear, a couple of them really look like Japanese. Did I mention Darrick acted as a pimp that night?

Happy us squeezing (seriously) on the couch.

And with the final parade, the show ended.

Now, if I could be a model... ...

... I'll ... just look ugly.
